CLARENDON NIGHT MARKET TO DEBUT
SATURDAY, MAY 17
This week DMM President Michael Berman announced "what we believe to be the first outdoor night market in the DC Metropolitan area" beginning 3-9 p.m. Saturday, May 17, in Arlington, VA at the Wells Fargo parking lot, 3140 N. Washington Boulevard. "At the intersection of three major North Arlington boulevards: Washington, Wilson and Clarendon Blvds. and across from the Silver Diner on Irving Street," Berman said "the market will be in the midst of a vibrant night life-infused restaurant and tavern district."
He said this brand-new market is a collaborative effort among the Clarendon Alliance, Diverse Markets Management, and Link Locale - a co-working space on the second floor of the Wells Fargo Bank building.
The Clarendon Night Market will operate on alternate Saturdays through October 25. It will feature a diverse mix of art, crafts, fashion, jewelry, imports, antiques, collectibles, furniture, and more. Bistro lights will be strung amongst the tents creating a festive evening shopping bazaar.
Berman said "DMM has been studying the popularity of Asian night markets, particularly those in Taiwan. We hope Clarendon will be in the vanguard of a metropolitan movement, such as The Flea Market at Eastern Market was in popularizing outdoor markets in the region more than 30 years ago."
The market area can support 35 vending spaces. Exhibitor WiFi and bathrooms will be provided by Link Locale. Berman said The Clarendon Alliance will separately operate a Sunday Market, from 11am - 5pm, called Spark Market at Clarendon, on opposite alternate Sundays.
Exhibitor applications for Clarendon Night Market are available here.
Mohamed Elrafai, a longtime exhibitor at the Sunday Eastern Market flea, recently announced that he is opening a store: Far East Antiques at 4222-B Howard Av. Kensington MD 20895. The store will feature Asian antiques and more. For information contact Mohamed by email or phone: 703-403-4405.
