ANOTHER NATIONWIDE TELEVISION PROGRAM WILL FEATURE THE FLEA MARKET AT EASTERN MARKET IN WASHINGTON, DC
WASHINGTON, DC (October 12)—The Flea Market at Eastern Market was chosen as the location for filming of A Dating Story episode, which will air 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, on The Learning Channel (TLC), Flea Market Manager Tom Rall announced today.
“I am pleased that the producers chose our market for it romantic atmosphere,” said Rall, who has managed and promoted the Sunday flea for nearly 20 years in conjunction with Market 5 Gallery, a nonprofit arts organization at Eastern Market, the historic Capitol Hill food market in operation since 1873.
“For many years I have observed couples from all over the world strolling happily around the market,” said Rall, “and it’s great that this aspect of the market receives national recognition.”
The episode was shot on a Sunday in March and directed by Suzy Garra, according to Cynthia Nee of Banyan Production, the Philadelphia firm that produces A Dating Story for TLC.
“We’ve been getting great publicity recently,” noted Rall, citing both inclusion in A FLEA MARKET DOCUMENTARY, which debuted on PBS stations this summer, and a September Washington Post feature on The Flea Market at Eastern Market’s important role in the incubation of other small businesses.
