PREPPING FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Diverse Markets Management (DMM), the D.C. company that runs both The Flea Market at Eastern Market, Sundays at 7th & C Streets SE on Capitol Hill; and The Downtown Holiday Market (DHM) that begins a four-week outing on Friday, November 30; has been busy prepping for the holidays.
In anticipation of DHM's Eighth Annual edition downtown, its seventh consecutive year on the broad sidewalk between 7th and 9th Streets NW in front of The National Portrait Gallery; DMM recently posted the entire 180 Exhibitor list on the show web site.
And today DMM President Michael Berman announced agreement with the Courtyard Marriott U.S. Capitol Hotel, 1325 2nd Street NE, to offer reduced rates to show exhibitors and customers for the entire event. "The $119 a night rate is really great for in town hotels," Berman said, "and it's available to all our exhibitors and customers from both markets."
A direct link to the reduced rate reservation can be reached here. The group code for the rate is already entered in the reservation form on the left hand side of the hotel web site. Guests can also call 1-888-236-2427 and ask for the Diverse Markets Management Room Block at the Courtyard Washington, DC/U.S. Capitol.
Berman said reservations must be made by 5 p.m. November 8 to obtain the reduced rate for the hotel, which is located at the New York Avenue Metro station, just three stops from Gallery Place station, which serves DHM. Valet parking is also available at the hotel.
MUSIC IN THE YARD SERIES ENDS SUNDAY
"The always well-received Flo Anito will conclude the weekly flea market music season that began in our music tent in the spring," announced Berman, who also promised "two or three acts daily in our heated tent at DHM."
Flo Anito will perform two sets of her Jazzy Pop sound between Noon and 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The Performer list for Holiday Market is now posted on the Holiday Market website.
RED PERSIMMON RETURNS
Katrina Ulrich, one of our favorite exhibitors, whose Red Persimmon booth benefits a women's enrichment program in India, has returned to the flea market after a summer stint in her home state of Minnesota. And she recently announced a sale to celebrate.
