Washington, DC Novemeber 30, 2006- The 2006 Downtown Holiday market is set to open Monday, December 11 with a stunning array of exhibitors, entertainment, food and more!

Produced in partnership with the Downtown DC BID and Diverse Markets Management (DMM), comprised primarily of Flea Market at Eastern Market management, the Downtown Holiday Market will bring a unique seasonal shopping experience to the heart of Downtown, Noon to 7 p.m. daily through December 22, on the F Street NW sidewalk between 7th and 8th in front of the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture. It will be transformed into a marketplace of local artisans selling an array of high quality gift items.

"I am really excited about our new location, the planned festivities and decorations, and the great mix of exhibitors this year," said Mike Berman, DMM director. "Exhibitors are excited too; spaces were nearly sold out by Thanksgiving.

“The layout provides for a festive arrangement of about 50 exhibitors each day and we have a mix of more than 100 unique businesses participating throughout the event. There will be gifts for everyone on your list and you can shop while sipping hot cider and listening to some great local talent on stage,” Berman enthused.

Photographer Steve Miller, who makes stunning black and white photographs that reflect the human condition, has become the latest Featured Exhibitor at

“Consider the power of a black and white photograph. Without color, black and white images must succeed because of content," Miller said. "They are moments, frozen in time that can change hearts and minds. Black and white photographs tell the story of our lives.”

His work reflects life in countries around the world. Miller has recently published a book, Image Reflections, which compiles photographs from his intercontinental travels. Nine of his photographs have been acquired by The Smithsonian Museum as part of its permanent collection.

While Miller's work has been shown, and sold, in museums and galleries, Miller is at home at Eastern Market. "The market offers artists an affordable venue to operate. The result is that collectors can acquire my work at reasonable prices," he stated.
