2015 marks OUR 32nd SEASON!

Dear Flea Market Exhibitor,
We are pleased to announce CONTINUATION OF THE FLEA MARKET AT EASTERN MARKET in Washington, DC, EVERY SUNDAY.  In 2015 we continue an agreement with the District of Columbia for OUR 32nd SEASON, our 1st operating on the closed 300 block of 7th Street SE.  We accommodate approximately 66 EXHIBITORS EACH WEEK.

The flea market is located along 7th Street SE between Pennsylvania and C Street SE, ON CAPITOL HILL.  The Eastern Market Metro Station (Orange/Blue Lines) is across the street at 7th & Pennsylvania.  The location is enhanced by a fine urban neighborhood.  It is A FUN PLACE TO SELL.

Two space sizes are available:
SINGLE :
10' X 10' or 5’ X 20’  $90.
Double spaces are not available.
Corporate Exhibitor space :
$200, when available. 

PREPAYMENT AND A ONE TIME NON-REFUNDABLE $30 APPLICATION FEE IS REQUIRED. The prepayment should be for one Sunday only. It will be either refunded or transferred for use on another Sunday if you cancel 4 days in advance or if we cannot accommodate you.  When you exhibit, reservations and prepayments for a future Sunday will be taken by staff onsite.

A PREPAYMENT WILL NOT GUARANTEE A SPACE ASSIGNMENT, but will assure a place on our waiting list for the date specified on the reservation, if your product qualifies for the market.
We do not confirm reservations. However we shall try to contact you at least 48 hours in advance of your reservation, if we think we cannot accommodate you. Please note that in our small footprint on the street and in fair weather demand often overwhelms supply of available space.

Exhibitors must bring their own tables and chairs and overhead protection from bad weather.  Spaces are outdoors on asphalt, uncovered and possibly without shade. Advertised hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At 8:15 a.m., Assistant Managers VERNON BURNETT or DAVID WRIGHT will greet exhibitors who do not have permanent space assignments at the corner of Pennsylvania Ave and 7th Street. While waiting, do not park or idle at the corner. After receiving a space assignment and unloading, parking is available on a surface lot on C Street or underground on the 600 block of Pennsylvania Ave. for $10.  Look for the Colonial Parking signs.

Most of our exhibitors are assigned PERMANENT SPACES. This means that they do not have to wait to be assigned a space each morning.  Permanent exhibitors must remove vehicles by 8 am, with no exceptions. Set up begins at 6 a.m.

Generally, to maintain a permanent space, exhibitors are expected to prepay for the next Sunday, to exhibit three out of every four Sundays on average and, most importantly, to communicate with us in advance whenever they cannot attend. To request a permanent space, a minimum of one year of exhibition is required. Note however, the waiting list is long.

In support, we shall continue ADVERTISING in selected publications, with distributions to the community and to major hotels, and at easternmarket.net, which attracted about 3 million visitors last year. Additionally, its periodic newsletter now has more than 7100 subscribers.

While we emphasize antiques, arts, collectibles, crafts and imports in advertising, other merchandise is eligible. Presently, food sellers are being placed on waiting lists. Prohibited items include animals, weapons, explicit sexual material, personal services, illegal CDs, DVDs, and other unauthorized “knock offs.” We also do not accept bicycle sellers. Exhibitors should not bring dogs and other pets.

No vendor's license is required. However, exhibitors are required to collect and pay appropriate sales taxes to the DC government. Information is available at 202-727-4TAX or in person at 941 N. Capitol Street, Customer Service Center on the first floor.
